On March 19-20, 2013 Donetsk hosted the IX International Conference "Telemedicine - Experience and Prospects" which is included in the register of congresses, symposia and scientific conferences of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The conference was held at support of the Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine within the framework of the “eHealth” project. The conference was attended by over 180 representatives from 17 regions of Ukraine. To extend the format of the event was webcast live through which the conference was joined by another 29 remote audiences from Ukraine, Russia and Spain.

One of the key points of the conference was the presentation dedicated to the creation and development of the national teleoncological network under “Cancer is curable” program, “eHealth” project of Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine. Implementation stages and the first results of the video conferencing equipment implementation in the cancer detection centres of Lvov, Donetsk and Rovno regions were demonstrated.

Thanks to “eHealth” project, today, oncology detection centres receive systemic turnkey solutions: Internet, video conferencing equipment and special software for the medical data transmission. With the latest equipment the specialists are able to provide remote support of diagnostic and treatment process and get in-service training, and most importantly - reduction of time and distance for the patient to a timely, accurate diagnosis and treatment."
