Beauty Contest for Physically Challenged Women Held in Donetsk

Over the years of its existence, the contest has become widely popular not only in Donetsk region and Ukraine, but also far beyond Ukrainian borders, and acquired the status of a Ukrainian competition with international participation: 10 participants from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Moldova showed their external and internal beauty.

According to Nadezhda Palamarchuk, one of the organizers of the contest and the Head of Donetsk Regional Organization for People with Disabilities ,“such an event would be impossible without the support of Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine, which has been our reliable partner for 4 years.  Thanks to the Foundations, each year the winners receive active wheelchairs. I want to thank Mr Akhmetov for his care for physically challenged people. In fact, Donetsk is the only city with a taxi for physically challenged people “Invataxi” created by the Foundation, which provide free transportation services for people with disabilities in a specially equipped vehicles.”

During the contest, which took place on the big stage of the Culture Center, the girls showed their catwalks, changed outfits, sang songs and danced. Their shining eyes and sincere smiles clearly showed how important was this contest to them, this opportunity to be a full part of society. Youth with disabilities is limited in communication and creative self-expression, that is why such events allows them to integrate into modern society.
