On July 3 to 5, 2013, in Poland, Torun City hosted the finals of the International Football League for the Disabled Seni Cup 2013. The League is unique because it has no age restrictions, the elderly can participate in such a big international event along with the young.
Ukrainian five-a-side teams turned in a good score at the international tournament Seni Cup 2013 in Poland
30 teams from 9 different countries took part in the final tournament, including players from Ukraine. Teams from Strizhavka and Pochayev neuropsychiatric residential facilities were traditionally supported by Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine and FC Shakhter.
During the opening ceremony at the stadium, Torun spectators enjoyed the performance of the renowned football freestyle master Krzysztof Golonka, who demonstrated tricks with the ball.
The very tournament began on July 4 with a match between Seni Cup organizers and team coaches. Furthermore, the Ukrainian residential facility residents-winners of Seni Cup 2013 in Ukraine competed at the International Tournament: the team of Strizhavka Psychoneurological Asylum (Vinnitsa Region) played with the teams from Russia and Poland. The Ukrainian team won an honourable second medal place. Pochayev asylum team from Ternopol Region took the fifth place.
All the participants of Seni Cup 2013 were awarded the football cups and presented with gifts from the tournament organizers. The Foundation for Development of Ukraine and FC Shakhter presented the best players with T-shirts labelled with the following categories: Best Goalkeeper, Best Forward and Best Back, autographs, balls, etc.
