Seni Cup 2013, the IX International Football League for the Disabled

On May 23, Kyiv hosted the opening ceremony of Ukrainian qualifier finals of the International League for young disabled people “Seni Cup 2013”.

The tournament has been held in Kyiv for 9 years and is a unique opportunity for people with disabilities and special needs to take part in international football competitions. “Seni Cup” tournament promotes physical development of young people living in psycho-neurological residential care facilities. Football games in “Seni Cup” are played according to all FIFA rules. Organizer of the project - Bella-Trade Company - is the official importer of Seni TM products in Ukraine. Main goal of “Seni Cup” tournament is to help young people with special needs to feel themselves productive members of the society.

Deputy Director of the Social Services Department of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine Iryna Kislyak, First Secretary of the Department of Trade and Investment Promotion of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv Michal Falenczyk, Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Borys Zakharchuk, the President of the Association of Football Disabled of Ukraine Borys Voskresensky, manager of projects and programs of the Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine Nataliya Stetsko and other officials came to the tournament to support and welcome the participants

Nataliya Stetsko, manager of the "Direct Targeted Assistance" Program of the Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine: Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation  for Development of Ukraine in the framework of the "Direct Targeted Assistance" Program usually assists in providing treatment, surgery, rehabilitation and other “here and now” help. However, we are glad to take part in the football tournament “Seni Cup 2013” traditionally, for the seventh time. We started to support this partnership initiative in 2007. And we can see that it brings success and benefits for people with special needs, because adaptation and socialization are important factors in their lives. The tournament near Kyiv, follow-up visits of the winning team to Poland for the finals, as well as tours that we arrange for the kids at Donbass Arena stadium, communication with professional football players are the best way to help them feel on a par with others, find strength, strive to win and never give up.”

The World and European champion in swimming, Olympic silver medalist in Sydney, four-time World Cup winner in butterfly swimming Denis Silantyev, football players of Ukraine’s National Football Team Aleksandr Aliyev and Taras Mikhailik came to support the Grand Opening Ceremony of the tournament finals. Children's vocal and dancing groups performed at the concert dedicated to the tournament opening. Opening ceremony ended with a big party cake “Seni Cup 2013”!
