The Project is the joint project initiated by the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy and Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation “Rinat Akhmetov Foundation” in 2008.
Aim of the project is to create the first doctoral program in Ukraine to help the entire national educational system to integrate in the EU educational system after the accession of Ukraine to the Bologna process.
Philosophy of the project
"PhD Program in Mass Communications" aims to bring the Ukrainian science in the field of mass communications to Western standards, establish in Ukrainian universities academic environment, able to respond quickly to the needs of the media market, to make changes in the curriculum, prepare professional journalists who will meet the needs of the media market.
The ultimate beneficiaries are the Ukrainian society that gets access to timely and quality information.

This way Ukrainian media market will receive specialists who can do quality research of the market, to monitor trends of the media in Ukraine and changes in professional standards of the profession. Consequently the media market will promptly reflect these changes in educational standards, the change that will allow preparing journalists in universities taking into account the new requirements for the profession.
