Today, on the day the Cannes Film Festival opening, the Ukrainian national pavilion will be opened in Village International. The Ukrainian delegation will present finished projects as well as those being on the initial stage of development to international film professionals and distributors for the sixth year in a row.
This year the Ukrainian representation at one of the world’s most significant film festivals has been provided by the State Agency of Ukraine on film issues along with the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Center supported by the Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for Development of Ukraine and the “International Airlines of Ukraine” (IAU) company.
The initial stage projects account for about 20 works. In particular,
“Stepne”, the full length work by Marina Vroda, the Ukrainian director and Palm D’Or prize winner, will be presented.
3 films for children, i.e. “Ivan Syla” by Viktor Andriyenko, “Mykyta Kozhumyaka and the fire flower” and “Magic stories: The Elixir of Kindness” by Lilia Soldatenko will be first presented for all the years of Ukrainian pavilion working in Cannes.
The genre palette of the projects will be attributed by “Red Malanka”, a new full length film by Dmytro Sukholitky-Sobchuk, as well as the “Beyond Euro” almanac.
This year 12 short length Ukrainian movies, namely “Murphy’s Law” by Olga Kraplyuk, “Road” by Maksim Ksenda, “Post Scriptum” by Anastasia Khramova, “Lessons of Ukrainian” by Ruslan Batitsky, “In the bathroom” by Igor Morozov, “ A yellow flower for monsieur Bourillon” by Larisa Artyugina, “Coffee structure” by Oleg Bobalo-Yaremchuk, “Portrait” by Anastasia Starova, “18+” by Roman Brovko, “Nympho” by Oleg Borshchevsky, “Awakening” by Mykola Litvin, “Returns (plural)” by Oleksandr Ratiy will be presented in the Short Film Corner, one of the principal sections of the festival.
A market run of the “Light as feather” film by the director Andriy Rozhen will take place within the Cannes festival.
Traditionally enough the biggest Ukrainian film forums, namely Odessa IFF and IFF “Molodist” which celebrates its 25th anniversary of being present at the Cannes Film Festival, shall be presented.
This year the Cannes Film Festival will last from May 15 to May 26.
