Supporting State Museum of Natural History (Lviv) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

Implementation years: 2012-2019

Thanks to support from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, Lviv State Museum of Natural History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine welcomed visitors again after staying closed for more than 20 years.

The Foundation helped equip the museum’s exhibition halls with the most advanced multimedia technologies and restore two unique discoveries: a prehistoric mammoth and a woolly rhinoceros, whose remains have been found in the early 20th century. These discoveries became central exhibits of the Ice Age: Return of the Mammoth to Lviv, a unique exhibition opened in July 2019. Visitors to this exhibition can see prehistoric animals, learn about their life shown on screen, participate in interactive games, watch an animated film about how people were hunting in prehistoric times, and visit the home of a Cro-Magnon man, a model of whose hut can be found in one of the museum’s halls. This exhibition is an example of an apt presentation of a museum product, and the long queue of people who want to visit the museum is the best proof of that.
