Rinat Akhmetov presents apartments to orphaned children from Avdiivka

08.06.2017

Rinat Akhmetov decided to present apartments to children from Avdiivka, whose parents were killed during the shelling of the town on May 13, 2017.

Today the families of the victims were given certificates for housing.

The tragedy happened in the middle of May this year. Four civilians were killed due to direct shell hit to a residential building located in the old part of town. The shell explosion took away the lives of Avdiivka Coke employees – Maria Dyka, Oleh Borysenko and his wife Olga Kurochkina. The couple had a 19-year-old son Mykhailo, and Maria Dyka was raising a four-year-old daughter Oleksandra. These children became orphans.

"In one day the kids lost the most valuable things – their family and home. When Rinat Akhmetov found out about the death of Mykhailo's and Oleksandra's parents, he decided to present them apartments in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. Unfortunately, nobody can give these children their parents back. But they need a new home now, where they start building a new life with their relatives and loved ones. This is a personal initiative of Rinat Akhmetov", – Oleksandr Vyshniakov, Director of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shares.

From the moment of tragedy Avdiivka Coke employees supported the children who lost their parents. "The death of our employees is a great tragedy for all of us, who work at the enterprise. We express our condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims. They have children left, who will never have love of their parents again. From the very first days Avdiivka Coke and Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center helped and supported relatives and friends of the killed employees. It is important that children are surrounded with support and care for them. And the assistance, provided by Rinat Akhmetov, will help them in the future", – Musa Magomedov, Director of Avdiivka Coke, emphasized.
